If you are like me, you get curious about the going-on around me. I've always been curious. Luckily, in the DC area the police are pretty transparent about reporting that kind of stuff. For instance, in DC, Prince George's County and other surrounding area jurisdiction have an online "crime map" on their website. This is a tool where you can type in an address and see recent arrests for various crimes in a general area. It is a great way to scope out a new place to live, work or visit.
- Prince George's County Crime Map - Just type in an address located in Prince George's County on this system. It will show icons surrounding the area identifying a general location and a type of crime that occurred. You can set it to show a small period of time (a week), or a larger period of time (a year).
- Metropolitan Police District of Columbia Crime Map - Operates just about the same as in PG County. Enter a location in the District and it will show you icons for certain crimes that occurred in a general vicinity of that location.
- Montgomery County Crime Map - Hosted by the same website that PG County uses, the function is the same to see a map of crime in MoCo.
- Fairfax County Crime Map - The crime map for one the United States' richest counties per capita.
